What is Virtual/Live Learning? Your course will be delivered over the internet real-time and face-to-face with the trainer. You will be able to participate in lessons, ask questions, talk to other participants etc as you would have done in a physical in-class course. The quality of the lessons and training will not be any different from what you would have experienced in-class.

The benefits of delivering the course with Live Learning include the need not to travel and avoid the risk of coronavirus transmission.

Setting up your space for virtual learning:

When attending an online class, you should work in a physical space that will allow you to focus on the class and participate without distracting your classmates and instructor(s).

- Work in a quiet room, with minimal background noise and distractions.

- Have with you, a pen and some paper to take notes.

Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.

The HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (QCF) has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a CCTV operative.




Assessment

Working within the Private Security Industry
This unit will be assessed by an externally set and marked multiple choice question paper consisting of 40 questions. The examination will last for 60 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 28 of the 40 questions in order to pass. 70% pass mark.

Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry
This unit will be assessed by an externally set and marked multiple choice question paper consisting of 40 questions. The examination will last for 60 minutes and learners will be required to correctly answer 28 out of the 40 questions in order to pass. 70% pass mark

Practical use of a CCTV System
This unit will be assessed by an externally set and internally marked practical assessment. 100% pass mark

Content

This award has been developed to meet the training and licensing requirements of the SIA. The qualification is awarded on successful completion of three units: Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a CCTV Operator and Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment.

The qualification comprises 3 mandatory units:
- Unit 1: Working within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 2: Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry
- Unit 3: Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment within the Private Security Industry
